Occasional posts from (usually) Bram and (sometimes) Monica about comics in general, this comic in particular, art, design, publishing, visual culture, and far, far too many things about actual squirrels.

Back to that Time top 100 list, we decided to go head to head and compare our high school educations. Monica edged me out at 16 to 12. But there's a link on the side to the top ten graphic novels. There we're both at 80% (or I will be, once I finish off Bone — I just don't want it to end).
Been up to all sorts of comic-related stuff that doesn't actually involve working on this comic. Last weekend, we joined some fellow 7000 BC members in running a comic workshop at a teen center at the town north of here. We went straight from there to an opening at Feral Gallery where the group had a table and conducted a respectable amount of business and met a bunch of interested folks. Monday found more of us back at IAIA for the second part of a workshop for an English comp class there. And now we're gearing up for an event next weekend at Sol Arts in Albuquerque.

Matt was kind enough to mail a couple of issues of Wonka Vision, the Philly-based indy music magazine. Their latest (not on their Web site) features art and design, and has a nice one-page article (with photos) on the DC Conspiracy. Available at Tower Records and Newbury Comics and the like.

I was tipped off to this major comics exhibit a while back by my inside source at the Hammer, and been waiting ever since. Looks to be a thorough look at the a century of the medium. Hope to get out there early next year.

As noted on Icarus, Time has compiled a list of the 100 greatest English novels (since the founding of the magazine), and Watchmen was on it. A solid choice, pretty bold sticking a comic in there — and good, as it greatly helped me improve my total. Recently pulled out V for Vendetta for a re-read, and was impressed with how well it held up. What little I've read about the movie has me expecting the worst, but the trailer is pretty seductive.
