Occasional posts from (usually) Bram and (sometimes) Monica about comics in general, this comic in particular, art, design, publishing, visual culture, and far, far too many things about actual squirrels.

Diving into the old longboxes last night, I emerged with Spanner's Galaxy. Dated, predictable, and hokey in parts, but held up surprisingly well as a read.

Also: Amazon, it's "castling."

Furthermore: the new arc of Criminal is the best yet. So, so good.

An amazing revelation from the Cold War, but I fear untrue. Via Raph via Tor.

Via Raph, an appreciation of Bill Sienkiewicz on The New Mutants. Got a discount trade of The Demon Bear Saga years ago and, despite Claremont's shortcomings (well handled in the essay), it holds up pretty well.

In advance if his move, Jon returned my volumes 2 and 3 of Jack Staff. Geez, that's good stuff. I'd reread tonight, but just got the new Incognito trade.

I want to like Alpha Flight more than it warrants (so far), and would characterize the latest Uncanny X-Men as almost Whedonesque — but the only thing I really fear is the use of ITC Benguiat itself.

Hey, Yahoo, usability fail. I got a thought, since just about everybody who gets this screen will be re-logging in … how about putting the login here? So you don't have to click to another screen? This is just about as welcome as home pages that just say "Enter."

Anatomy of a Greyhound.

Ah, always good to hear about a new Greg Rucka project: Lady Saber has cast off.

Last shuttle launch. I have a memory of going to (read: being dropped off at) an event at a local science museum as a pre-teen with Andy. It was all about the space shuttle and the future and we came away with photos — I remember them just being the shuttle being flown around on a 747. Clearly NASA propaganda.

I already miss space flight.

7000 BC will be meeting this Saturday, July 9th at NYPD in Albuquerque. All local comics creators welcome.

Yep. Squirrel starts fire at Los Alamos.

In all seriousness, we're grateful that the fire's progress has slowed and that residents are returning to Los Alamos. And there's still danger, especially to some historical sites, but I'm hopeful.
