Blog

Occasional posts from (usually) Bram and (sometimes) Monica about comics in general, this comic in particular, art, design, publishing, visual culture, and far, far too many things about actual squirrels.

My favorite Canadian evil genius Bob the Angry Flower has made it official: he's moving to States. But I don't expect this to negatively affect the quality of his comic strip. I'm more worried about us.

3.25.2005

In case you haven't heard or read (free registration req'd) the news, a self-styled "quality vandal" calling himself Banksy managed to surreptitiously hang artwork in the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum and the American Museum of Natural History. Some went undiscovered for days until his pranks were documented.

Squirrel Girl!

Via Memepool, learn about Squirrel Girl here and here. Just the character the Ultimate Marvel universe needs. But don't get any ideas — I'm working on my pitch now.

oh my god, you are the smartest dog in the f-ing universe!

Please, please, please check out the huge archive of Lulu Eightball comics at the Baltimore City Paper's website. They're just the right combo of weird and hilarious. And I so love artist Emily Flake's artless art.

Link Gratitude

A belated thanks to the folks at Coudal Partners for their mention of the RBS site in a tip I sent along. An advertising/design firm that doesn't really show their work or explain their approach — but spend some time there, and you'll learn more about them than you ever could from a "traditional" site. That's smart marketing. Wouldn't want to start my day without it.

Muth's Shorts

A capsule review of the Jon J. Muth-illustrated Zen Shorts in yesterday's Washington Post sent me scurrying off to the local bookstore to check it out. Part watercolor. Part Japanese-style ink. Wonderful. Moonshadow's in my on-deck circle.

More copies of SPX 04 package

We've reprinted a limited number of the SPX packages mentioned in Ryan's Newsarama article. If you'd like one, just drop us a note. We're also working on the next issue, so let us know if you'd like a copy when it's available.

New site design!

The RBS site's been redesigned to streamline things a bit, and to add in this nifty blogging function! Look here for other interesting comics and comic-related things, links, updates, etc. We'll keep the list of issues updated on the left, there.

Thanks for checking in!
